In this age, where both the husband and the wife are earning an income, it is essential to have a babysitter that you can trust. This article will help you know on which basis to choose a trustworthy babysitter, and will also explore some of the telltale signs which children display if the babysitter is not the right one.
When you first choose a babysitter evaluate them based on their experience. If the person you hire has children themselves they already have more experience the many other since they are obviously stay-home-moms. Ask the potential babysitter if they have completed a babysitting course since that kind of course often teaches CPR, and first aid. When conducting the interview, ask the babysitter questions about hypothetical situation, and listen closely to their answers. Do you like the way they would act? Another important thing to consider during the interview is that you should not bring your child to it. It could distract you from the babysitter since you don't want to miss any details. Bring your child to meet the babysitter at some other time if you're still sure you want that one to take care of your child. It is good to see how the babysitter interacts with your child so try to set up a time when you can see the babysitter in action before you start the actual sessions. Age is also part of the investigation. The babysitter can't be below 11 years old (by law) and you probably want someone older anyway since a young person just isn't as responsible as an older woman would be. If the babysitting is at a place other then your own look at the other children the babysitter has. If they seem dirty, unkempt, and the babysitter doesn't answer then nicely, chances are you don't want your child to be there. The place itself should be clean and well kept, and safe for your child. Watch for small parts, knick-knacks and other little objects that could pose a possible hazard to your child.
Once you know you like a babysitter, and trust that they would be able to do their job responsibly and thoroughly, set up a probation baby sitting appointment. Make it for at least 3 hours. Call in once or twice, since then you can see whether your child is crying or whether it is doing well. A surprise visit halfway through could also reveal any quirks the babysitter might have. You can do surprise visits every once in a while even later on if you suspect your babysitter isn't behaving as they should. If you want the babysitter to administer medication, give them written instruction as to the dosage and how often they need to administer it. Tell them when you want your child to be fed, and about when it should take a nap. Make sure you also tell the babysitter how you want your child punished and for what kind of behavior. You don't want your child to have double standards.
